Up a Creek … In the Classroom

Throughout the school year, I am a full-time public school administrator, mentor, and leadership team member with more than a decade of public and private school experience.  I frequently collaborate with colleagues in my own school and across the state and country to increase student achievement and encourage educators to attempt new approaches. I enjoy serving educators across the nation in a greater capacity by providing practical solutions that work in all classrooms for all teachers.  After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University, I followed my dream of teaching children in a classroom. Studying Postsecondary Education focused on Instructional Technology at Troy University, I obtained a Master of Science in Education. Professional opportunities to provide staff development, actively participate in school and district leadership teams, and mentor novice teachers led me to a passion for assisting my colleagues be more successful through building efficiency and self esteem. Thus began my career as a professional development provider for my local school and others in the district. In 2011, I expanded my services to become an independent educational consultant. In 2019, I completed my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Sorrells’ Professional Consulting dba Simply Learning Space is an independently owned and operated Educational Consulting Business in operation since January 2011. As the sole proprietor and employee of the consulting company, I provide training nation-wide to classroom educators in the area of classroom management, building a classroom community that seizes the opportunity to use each instructional moment to increase student achievement, and using games for instruction and engagement. I also share my experience and expertise at local, state, and international conferences for educators. My passion is in building knowledge in students and educators across the world.
